Australia and Asia 2011

Yes, its true. I am planning on going to Australia with Julianna and Stephanie. I really do not know what I will be doing or what to expect of the trip but I am hoping to travel a lot, meet a lot of people, make a documentary, and live life. I been wanting to do this for a very very long time and the opportunity arose. For the longest time I did not want to travel because I wanted to pay my major debts. After 20 months of paying my credit card I finally finished paying it and now I want to get on with my plans. And even though a career and a family is in my plans it is still not the right time to fulfill those goals in my life. I want to do something that in the future I will not regret for not doing (did that make sense???). I am just lucky to have the family that I have who supports me with everything I set in my mind. I talked to my mom and dad and they think that its an incredible idea and the right moment in my life to do it.

Julianna and Stephanie came up with the idea a long time ago and it was always in the back of my head. I think they invited me, maybe not. But I just told them that I was coming and I think they liked the idea. I think that they are afraid about the fact that I will know their Australian secrets, but besides that I am sure that they are happy that I will be experiencing this adventure with them and I am too. I can't wait to see where this adventure will take me and I know that it will be fun and hard at the same time but in the end I will grow as a person. I know I will, and at the end of the trip I'll feel like I am ready to settle and start my career. And who knows, maybe I'll find someone to marry but now I am not worried about that, right now I just want to live my youth.

My parents and friends are very sad that I will be gone but I will be back. Austin is my home, I grew up here and I have the best friends living in this town. I will not leave, I will be back and I know things will change when I come back but things will change with me being here or not. I just need to set that in my mind. People change, my friends will change. But one thing won't and that's the love that we have for each other. I know that when I come back some will be waiting for me, and some might be gone. It makes me sad but its nothing that I can change.

I want to move to Australia in January 2011 and I only want to be away for about nine months (so I can be back for college football time!!). For the first six months I want to live in Australia and travel around the country and New Zealand and hopefully meet Sean Neesley. For the last three months I am hoping that I will be able to travel around Southeast Asia. Visit Thailand, Phillipines, Vietnam, Laos, India, China, Tibet, Nepal, Himalayans, etc... Travel around the cheap places in Asia. Will probably not see South Korea or Japan, they are too expensive, I'll probably save that trip for whenever I have money.

I just hope God gives me the opportunity to make this trip. He is the only one stopping me from it.

Boardwalk Empire

People like to think of it as the next The Sopranos. It is supposed to be about the Prohibition era and it takes place in New Jersey. It is an adaptation from Nelson Johnson's book, Boardwalk Empire: The Birth, High Times, and Corruption of Atlantic City. Terence Winter from The Sopranos will be producing the show and Martin Scorsese will be part of the production too (directed the pilot).

The cast looks stacked: Steve Buscemi, Michael Pitt, William Hill, Michael Shannon... here is the cast

Game of Thrones

"One of the most hotly anticipated shows the network has ever made." A new fantasy series based on the novels by George R.R. Martin, A Song of Ice and Fire. I've read that they think there will be seven seasons, one season for each book. HBO has committed to the pilot plus nine more episodes for the first season. The pilot was shot in Northern Ireland and production will resume in the summer.

"The fantasy is so incidental, it has a very adult tone," Lombardo said. "You forget it's fantasy while you're watching it, and that's what I love about it."

Spider and Son

This series will be about the life of Anthony Kiedis, not the rock star but the son of one the most important drug dealers in Hollywood in the 70s, Spider. It will be based on Anthony Kiedis book, Scar Tissue.

"The backdrop of the book is his relationship with his drug-dealer dad, who was also a drug addict, as well as with his father’s friends – all of whom used drugs."

Debut: About a year ago it was rumored to premiere in late 2010 but I have not heard much about it anymore so I really do not know where in production they are.

I'm With The Band

I'm with the Band: Confessions of a Groupie, a memoir by groupie Pamela Des Barres. In early February it was confirmed that Zooey Deschanel would be starring in the series as Pamela Des Barres. "Des Barres bragged about her bedroom experiences with the likes of Mick Jagger, Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page and actor Don Johnson. But along the with excitement of rolling with famous rockers, there was also the emptiness and heartbreak of being demeaned and discarded by stars once the next pretty young thing came along." Yes, its pretty much Almost Famous made into an HBO series. I know, sounds quite exciting. Can't wait for the soundtrack.

Debut: Who knows, but there is a pilot in the making.

Urine or You're Out

THE JOB - URINE TEST
(Whoever wrote this one deserves a HUGE pat on the back!)

Like most folks in this country, I have a job. I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to get that paycheck in my case, I am required to pass a random urine test (with which I have no problem). What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test.

So, here is my Question: Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them?
Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting on their ass - doing drugs, while I work. . . Can you imagine how much money each state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check?
I guess we could title that program, 'Urine or You're Out'. Pass this along if you agree or simply delete if you don't. Hope you all will pass it along, though. Something has to change in this country -- and soon!!!!!!!

Twilight Breaking Dawn: They need to make it into a movie!!!

So I read this article about the fourth book and OMG!!! They better make it into a movie!!!

"With New Moon likely to make yet another metric fuckk of money this weekend we need to find the bright side to the entire Twilight mania. There must be something good that comes from this awful Mormon fantasy that seems to have invaded our culture on every front. That something is the eventual movie version of Breaking Dawn.

Even though New Moon has made a bazillion dollars and even though the third Twilight book, Eclipse, is already filming, Summit has declined to announce the fourth and final Twilight book as a movie. There's a good reason for this: Breaking Dawn is completely f**k insane, and it is probably totally unfilmable. But if they do film it... man, we are in for a treat.

Breaking Dawn opens with Bella Swan, the lacteal heroine of the series, finally getting married to Edward Cullen, the mopey vampire hero. They go off to honeymoon on Isle Esme, a Brazilian island the Cullen clan owns (this is already ridiculous beyond belief. Imagine a vampire going snorkeling; it basically happens in this book), and Edward is afraid to f**k his new bride. The reason: he's super strong and she's just a human - Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex type of situation here. But Bella wears him down and Edward throws it in her - and knocks her the f**k out, leaving her badly bruised.

Let's go over that again: Edward f**k Bella into unconsciousness. This alone should have you running to Fandango to pre-order your tickets, but it only gets better.

Despite being knocked out cold by his sexual style (and having the headboard destroyed), Bella goes back to Edward for seconds. This time he knocks her up. Yes, an undead vampire apparently has enough viable sperm to impregnate a human woman while f**k her off the coast of Rio de Janero. Stephenie Meyer, you fabulous idiot!

The baby in Bella's belly starts growing incredibly fast. And it starts hurting Bella, as each kick it gives has the super strength of a vampire behind it. As it grows, Bella gets sicker, and then the good stuff starts. The baby kicks so hard it breaks Bella's ribs and then severs her spine. Are you imagining Kristen Stewart wearing a fake pregnancy belly and pretending to have been suddenly crippled by her own fetus? Because I am and it's making me laugh and laugh and laugh.

Oh wait, I missed something. Edward is completely freaked out about the baby, fearing it will kill Bella. He tries to convince her to get an abortion (but seriously, how could she? Vampires are tough to kill even in this shitty series), and goes so far as asking Native American wolfboy Jacob to impregnate his wife so that she can have the baby she desperately wants. I'm dizzy with how ridiculous this is, and we're just getting started.

Eventually the baby starts to get born and Bella is dying. The baby has telepathy, by the way, so everybody can read its thoughts while it's in the womb, and it turns out to have an essentially adult mind. Like Alia in Dune; I would accuse Stephenie Meyer of ripping this off, but anyone who thinks that Meyer might have read Frank Herbert has never been within spitting distance of Twilight. The woman is a moron.

In a moment that demands to be shown on the silver screen, Edward gives Bella an emergency C-section with his f**k teeth. It's like something out of XTro, for the love of God. It's so horrible it's brilliant, and this scene alone is why I remain firm in declaring that David Cronenberg must direct Breaking Dawn. This is surely his movie.

Once the baby is out, Bella gets vamped by Edward, as she's about to die at any moment. Then comes the most astonishing turn of events in 21st century literature, and possibly in the entire history of awful fiction aimed at tweens: Jacob the werewolf, who has been madly in love with Bella, sees the new baby girl and immediately imprints on her. What this means, in layman's terms, is that he falls in love with the baby.

I want to pull this out on its own: Jacob falls in love with a baby.

The book makes no bones about this; while Jacob doesn't want to f**k the baby right off the bat, he can't stand to be away from it and visits everyday. His love has been transferred from Bella to the baby (who has the tongue shattering name Renesmee), and because of the science behind imprinting he'll love her forever. So one day he's going to stick his wolf d**k in this girl that he see as a bloody newborn. Romance is not dead, it's just being abused by insane Mormon writers.

There's more in Breaking Dawn - the Volturi come back, for one thing - but these are the main amazing events that demand this book to be turned into a film. I will not rest until I have seen a movie in which a werewolf falls in love with a baby. Hell, once I've seen a werewolf fall in love with a baby I may quit movie watching - I will have seen the ultimate culmination of a century of cinema. The entire film of Breaking Dawn would play like the weirdest exploitation film since Doris Wishman died - brutal sex, bizarre body horror, unbelievable pedophilia.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club is set to release their fifth studio album, Beat The Devil’s Tattoo, on March 8th (UK/Europe/Japan/Australia et al), March 9th (US/Canada) and March 16th (Germay). This release signifies the band’s first full-length on their own Abstract Dragon label, in partnership with Vagrant Records and Co-Op Music Group. The band wrote and recorded most of the album at The Basement Studio in Philadelphia, PA – the same room where they wrote and recorded “Howl” as well as some work in their hometown Los Angeles. Beat The Devil’s Tattoo also marks the first album with drummer Leah Shapiro.

The trio is primed to embark on a North American headline tour upon release, kicking off February 26 in Sacramento and culminating at New York City’s Webster Hall on April 8. Pre-sale for all shows will start Wednesday, December 2 including a show at Slim’s in their original hometown of San Francisco, CA on release day.

So I'll be gone for the next three months and I really just feel like buzzing my head. I've always wanted to do it and its summertime and if it looks bad who cares?? Nobody will see. So before I do that I want to have a crazy ugly/cool or whatever haircut for the weekend. So I was thinking: Mullet or Mohawk??? or a little of both!?!?!

So here in USA/Texas mullets are seen as a hick or red neck thing but in Europe, specially Spain its the ultimate style. And well.... I am both so.... its ok I guess. Fuck it, ill just do a Fernando.

So.... this is one of those stories that very few people know about because I didnt have anyone to tell and then I just forgot. SO here it comes. The story about the last night I was in New York about a month ago.

So Camille gave me a book called Heavier Than Heaven ,the biography of Kurt Cobain, to read. During my trip in New York City I was all by myself. I know three people there but I wasnt able to meet any of them. So I decided to just walk around the city and read the book. Everywhere I went I would take the book with me: Yankee Stadium, CitiField Stadium, Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park, the subway, Hooters, Comedy Central, Time Square, Brooklyn, Ground Zero, Empire State, Union Square, Washington Square, etc. Every place that I went I would find the time to read it.

Anyways, every night I would go to my favorite pub, O'Sheas, in NYC which is on 19th St and Ave. 7 and watch NBA playoffs as I read the book. On my very last night I went back to the pub and watched the Mavericks play the Spurs. I payed $5 for my first Stella and then my second. The bartender got me a third Stella on the house and then I met a couple who bought me two more Stellas. I think I was there for about three hours talking to the couple, reading the book, listening to really fuckin good music and watching the Mavs rape the Spurs. So I got tired and left to my hostel. As I layed in bed I remembered that I left my book at the pub. I got up and walked to the pub which is only a couple blocks away from my hostel. By the time I got to the pub it was 4am already (bars close at 4am). I tried to get into the pub but the doors were locked. I knocked on the window to ask the bartender for my book but the bartenders were ignoring me. Another couple stood and stared at me as I knocked on the window.

Ah shit, I forgot to tell you about the bar. The bar is on the corner of the street so one side of the bar is facing 7th avenue and the other is facing 19th street.

I was standing on the side facing 7th avenue. So as I am standing there knocking on the window I heard a BANG and then another BANG. I walked a few steps and see a couple of guys throwing trash cans at the pub. Me... being tipsy decided to become the hero and started running toward the couple of guys who threw the trash cans. As I ran about twenty something steps I realized that it was stupid to go after them so I stopped running. Next thing I knew, the bartender tackled me. He semi started wrestling me as I yelled, "It wasn't me!!! It wasn't me!!!" Next thing I know there are a couple of cops asking me questions, one of them was getting ready to handcuff me but I kept telling them that it wasn't me who threw the trash cans. The couple who had seen me knocking on the window earlier walked outside and told the cops that it wasn't me. When asked what was I doing I told them that I came back to get my book. The cops told me to go into the pub and none of the bartenders wanted to give me my book because they were busy doing other things. But after about fifteen minutes a lady gave me my book and I went back to bed to my hostel. And that was that.

For some reason last night I was very tired so I went to bed around 10 pm. That is quite strange, specially on a night that the Mavericks were playing what could have been the last game of their playoffs (thank God it wasn't... 1-3, here we come).

My brother who is also my roommate is living again at home since he is done with UTSA for the school year. Last night he came home at 2:30am stumbling and being so fucking loud. I was sleeping and he obviously woke me up when he turned on the music in the room, Sean Lennon- Dead Meat, at least it wasn't White Lies which he can't stop listening to. I got up and yelled at him, "Chingada madre!!! Callate cabron!!!" ("Mother fucker!! Shut the fuck up!!") Do you know what he did next?!?! You won't believe it. He came up to me and out of all the things that he could have done he fuckin grabbed my head and started messing with my hair!!! I was about to throw a punch at him but I realized he was wasted when I smelled him, so I kind of just smiled. Then the drunk ass left the room with the lights on and the music blasting. I thought he was going to be back but he went to make himself some waffles. All this time I am just laying in bed at 2:40am waiting for him to go to bed so I can sleep too. He comes back like fifteen minutes later and switches the music to Noel Gallagher- The Dreams We Have As Children acoustic album, and ran to the bathroom. He was in the bathroom for about 5 minutes which I think he used to puke on the toilet. I really do not know what he was doing but I am sure he was puking. He walked out of the bathroom and logged into facebook for like thirty seconds. I know for a fact that he was checking for a girl to be online, I am not kidding you,this kid is the modern Romeo. Anyways, the cock sucker decided to pass out with the bathroom light on and the music playing so loud. Next thing I know, he is snoring!!! I am still laying in bed unable to sleep and,Lil' Cunt (his new nickname), is already snoring!!! I stayed there for about thirty more minutes trying to sleep but his snoring was so loud. Ah man, I am going to punch him in the face when I get home from work.

So I was having a conversation with her about music and i asked her what she liked and she pretty much said, "I love Oasis because you boys love them, I enjoy Nirvana cause they bring good memories of when I drove you to school, I like Coldplay because they are mellow but my favorite are The Strokes!!! When are they coming up with a new album???" Obviously, the conversation was in Spanish since she can't speak English. I was like, what the fuck have I done to my mom?? Funny thing is that if I would go back to my High School years, those were the only four bands I would listen to when she gave me rides to school. haha!!! Supposively, she wants tickets for the next time The Strokes come to town.

Since she cant speak English, when she sings the lyrics to songs she makes up words to sound like to the ones in the song, haha. its fuckin hilarious.

So the interview:

Arrived to LaGuardia at Queens. Had a fuckin driver picked me up!!! Yes!! A driver!! I was that important...for a day. Anyways, he drove me to Danbury, CT and dropped me off at the hotel. Then I forgot to tip him, lol. That night we went to Ishiros, one of those Japanese places where they cook in front of you. As I looked at the menu I see a steak that I want, it was $30!!! So I said, "shit no, thats too much." But then I looked at the rest of the menu and turns out that was one of the cheapest things on it. So I got it. Fuckin nice and FREE. I sat next to Vanjia, the lady who will or will not hire me. So dinner was nice. I met all the other interviewees and they mostly suck. I was great, they sucked. I reviewed my power point presentation that night and then I laid and watched tv until midnight. I laid in bed for 2 hrs!! Not fuckin kidding!! I was super anxious and just wanting to be done. I set my alarm at 7am but woke up at 5:45am!!! Totally not me. I was more anxious than nervous, fuckin hate interviews.

Anyways, so I went to my interview. Arrived fifteen minutes earlier than the thirty minutes early that I was suppose to arrive. So, that was good. They were going to interview a total of ten people and they separated us in three sets which lasted two hours each. First group was I, the earlier one and there were three of us. The interview started with a presentation from them about the job. Then, they kicked off the two other candidates and I stayed there with 15 people from the company, 13 girls and 2 guys. Anyways, I nailed the presentation!!! I mean, I was fuckin good!! Didn't stuttered, didn't say "hhhmm" maybe a few times but not many. What im trying to say is that I fuckin shined in that room. I was making eye contact with all of them and they were enamoured with me... I mean, the girls.... how couldnt they.

After us three were done with the presentations about "How are you the best candidate for the job" the actual interviews started. They were mostly psychological questions where they would ask you, "Have you ever been in a situation where...." and like a million of those questions. I thought I did really well. At the end of the interview I was told that they would let me know by the end of this week or would call me to tell me to wait another week.

That day once in NYC, I called Kurt, who is the one who got me the interview. He called his ex roommate, who was part of the interviews... not a decision maker though. Dan was a bit afraid of telling Kurt information since he knew that Kurt would tell me about their conversation. So this is pretty much what Dan said according to Kurt, "Jesus did very well. Everyone liked him. They eliminated five candidates out of the ten and Jesus is one of the survivors. But it can go either way with him depending on the ten coming next week. We are only hiring 6 out of the 21 being interviewed. "

So I guess that was good news and bad news. I thought they were going to hire at least twelve but theyre only hiring six!! Fuck me!! I am nervous, I do see myself getting the job because I think I am perfect for it. The problem is that there are many people being interviewed with a Masters degree but I believe that they are over qualified and hopefully will decline the job... even though these days everyone is putting their hands in whatever they can get.

So cross your fingers for me or pray for me if you are religious or send me good vibes or whatever works these days.

Two Days In Paris

Just got done watching this film. What a great movie!! Adam Goldberg is freaking great in it, about every single one of his lines crack me up. There's a lot of conversations, kind of reminds me of Before Sunrise, but of course it will July Delpy is in it. Adam Goldberg's character reminds me of Ross Schoppe when I went to Europe with him. Every time they disagree with a cultural difference their only answer to this foreign society starts something like this, "Well in America..."

Anyways, 7/10.

SXSW Top Personal Stories

Guttsiest Move:
- Jumping over the fence of a free Auditorium Shores concert. Jules was a little afraid to get caught but she did it anyways when she realized that the show was free and nobody cared if we jumped the fence or not.

The Odyssey:
-Getting everyone from Mohawk, 9th and Red River, to the Auditorium Shores. It was a huge group of us: burns, briana, british david, canadian steph, elizabeth, heather, bobby, balto, baltos emma, grace, vanessaless bob,juls, angelica, cesar??, minda, me and probably others. The journey was long and cassualties were lost on the way (slow fuckers getting lost in the crowd through 6th street), others were injured and almost left unconscious on the ground (british davids head bouncing on the ground after falling on the congress bridge). We made a quick stop at the Pure Volume island where beautiful drunk women threw themselves at us and emo kids played their tunes. Alcohol was thrown into our mouths and many distractions arouse as we tried to make it in time to Cold War Kids. None of this stopped us. After losing many cassualties who made it later through the middle of the concert, Juls and I arrived with the Carls brothers and the Yingling sisters to finally start the partay. Oh and exactly when Cold War Kids was playing Mexican Dogs.

Best Moment with Friends:
Those 5 minutes when Peter Bjorn and John played Young Folks as the real Young Folks sang to the sweet sounds. People were drunk, tears dripping, sweat flying, alcohol expelled from our bodies, spit jumping out of our mouths as we sang, and best of all.... there is a video to back this up.

Best Party with Friends:
- Those two hours at Mohawk on that thursday afternoon when pretty much EVERYONE was there. Glasvegas began playing Geraldine and fine beers were being passed out to us. Most people were having dos xx but as we all know, i dont like that so i had a bohemia. We were taking lots of pictures, including the Rhapsody professional pictures that are online. We were all full of energy since it was the first afternoon that most of us were there since many of us had to work on wednesday.

Best Concert:
Primal Scream on Friday night at La Zona Rosa. WOW!!!! ill post videos later. what a concert!!! I was dead tired and i came back to life that night.

Biggest Disappointment:
Peter Bjorn and John on Wednesday night when they played before Glasvegas. They took like 2 hours to only play like 8 songs. It was fuckin awful!!

Biggest surprise:
Kanye West playing Saturday night. OK. It wasnt much of a surprise to most of us but it was suppose to be one. You know when people have surprise parties for you and you know there will be but you still act surprised to not make anybody else feel bad?? Thats kind of how it was. I really dont like that music so much even if the G.O.O.D. Music label was playing. In the end, it was a fun experience and it really wasnt as bad as the 10 rap bands playing before them.

Best Day:
Friday---- Getting lost with Camille for three hours while most of my friends were mad at me. To then meet ALL my Young Folks as Ptr Bjorn and John played Young Folks. To end the night at the VIP table at Pangea sharing drinks with a New Zealand band as we salivated over Blur Graham Coxon's acoustic set. And to later walk to La Zona Rosa to see Glasvegas #3 and Primal Scream. What a night. Did I mention how drunk i was for the last eight hours??? lol. Oh yea, and then i met bobby and ricky who were semi passed out at Wendys. LOL.

Communication Breakdown:
Everyday after 6pm I didnt have a phone. It kept running out of battery since I was checking basketball scores and texting about 30 people every hour. It was actually quite nice not having to text everyone. Whoever I was with after 6pm thats who I would stick with til the end of the day. It was normally a huge group of friends until that time arrived when bobby and i had to go into the wristband shows.

Best food:
lol. i didnt eat any food. Wendys??

Money spent:
$16.89 throughout all four days. Most money was spent on tipping until i ran out of dollars. Ah well... $129 for the wristband but that was paid a month ago.

Biggest regret:
Not seeing Longview and The Sonics. Missing Metallica wasn't as much of a regret since 1. i dont like metal rock. 2. i saw graham coxon and primal scream instead. 3. i didnt wait in line for over 4 hrs.

Biggest loss:
UT to Duke. Imagine if Texas would had won their game!!! It would had been an even better weekend.

Strategic move of the festival:
1. drink beer at fader/levis
2. eat at wendys
3. run to white lies
4. run to levis/fader to see kanye
5. run to see daniel johnston
MISSION SUCCESSFUL!!!!

Biggest decision:
Should I see White Lies/Kanye West or Zooey Deschanel at her premiere of 500 Days of Summer. ok. i went for the music.

Angriest people at me during the festival:
1. Briana. Where were you?? With a girl?? WTF!!!... LOL... love you briana
2. Jeremy. You are such an asshole man!!! Why did you give out my Third Eye Blind tickets?? I had friends who wanted to go!!!... OOPS....sorry jeremy!!! i also love you man

Best party:
Levis/Fader. Did you see all that alcohol??? Its FREE!! nice. The free photo boots and tshirts were cool too. And the bands spectacular.

Most Awkward concert:
Daniel Johnston. Such a legend but man i wanted to laugh. That guy is totally FUCKED UP!! His left jerking off hand was a bit distracting. His singing was atrocious. But his music was fuckin beautiful. How can that be!?!?!? Only Daniel Johnston.

Love this review of Glasvegas from Pitchfork:

I am a total sucker for Glasvegas. I buy their bullshit hook, line, and sinker. Yes, I know they are hopelessly corny, slick and calculated, overly sincere, whiny emo, etc. Whatevs, talk to the hand. I love the way the Scottish band takes everything about the Jesus and Mary Chain-- the roaring-feedback-meets-Phil Spector sound, the all-black wardrobe, the strobe lights and fog machines-- and makes it fearlessly uncool. James Allen's bleeding-heart lyrics about daddy issues and broken romantic relationships (and social workers!), sung in a shooting-for-the-hilltops stadium-rock voice, transforms an aesthetic known for its calculated, stoic distance into something a goth teenager can cry about in his/her bedroom. And personally, I am all about anything that a goth teenager can cry about in his/her bedroom.
At La Zona Rosa, Glasvegas did not disappoint. They played mostly in the dark, illuminated by, yes, strobe lights. Everybody wore black-- Allen in a John Lennon cutoff tee-- and bassist Paul Donoghue struck plenty of tortured rock star poses while the whole band stomped around the stage like they had already conquered the world. Except for drummer Caroline McKay, that is, who stood firmly in place, tapping her minimal drum kit with comically deliberate, robot-like strokes.
Since this was the Scottish Arts Council showcase, and Glasvegas were playing in between the Proclaimers (who still draw quite a crowd, it seems) and Primal Scream, the place was full of drunk, happy Scottish people singing along to the massive choruses of "Geraldine" and "Daddy's Gone" with their arms around each other. So uncool it was cool.

Whoever Smelt It Dealt It

I am in my classroom in class and the school's principal steps into the classroom. He asks me to step outside of the classroom and that he would take over. I was a bit confused over the whole thing. I step outside my room and there are three cops and the vice principal. They look at me and comment me that someone walked passed me and said that I smell like weed. I start semi cracking up and say, "Whoever smelt it dealt it." All four of them laugh and ask me if I have been smoking. I replied, "No." Then they asked me to put my hands together and ALL three cops and the vice principal smell my hands. They all start laughing. The vice principal slaps the SHIT out of my back and tells me, "youre cool, we just had to check." Then a police officer starts talking to me about Mexico and how much he loves it.

What an awkward first ten minutes of work.

As much as i love this band im SOOOOO pissed about it. really?? the organizers are so fuckin lazy they get bands that are easy to get. fuckin conformists!!! it would had been OK if they would had taken the slot before the headliner but theyre headlining.

It has come to my attention that I may be the most prudent person I know. But that may be because I don't know anybody else better than myself. I mean, I try too hard to maintain a clean image. Never act on strong instincts. I think too much of the consequences. If I like a girl it is quite likely that I won't make the first move, not even when I am drunk. I dont go to places where I may not be welcomed. Don't call a person twice, except if its an emergency of course. Too discreet for my boring sake of being.

When I was in HS i fell in love for the first time, I think, beautiful and amazing girl but she had a boyfriend. I NEVER made a strong move on her but somehow we ended up going to an important party where the boyfriend didn't come. That night I thought I would tell her how I felt but who was to know that I boy that I had never met had the same idea and confessed to her first than me. What happened next?? Well first off, I ended up not saying anything to her that night. But what happened the week after made me sick. She broke up with her boyfriend of two years and started dating this other boy. What the fuck?? Why was I so shy about not confessing first?? Maybe I could have been that other boy but instead I found myself in a spot where I didnt wanted to speak to her again. I still remember listening to Fight Test by Flaming Lips. LOL. Not her fault, though. I guess I was just afraid that if she rejected me she would stop being my friend.

In college I liked this girl that I never told her how I felt. How did it all ended?? She fucked my best friend. What did i do about him?? Nothing, I stopped talking to him.

There was this other girl who I also had a crush on. We hung out for like four months. She is a very shy girl who had never had a bf. What did I do to make her my gf?? Nothing. Years later we had a drunk conversation where she confessed to me that she had the biggest crush on me but I never made a move. Her answer to my shyness, fear and prudence of not asking her out was that I was probably gay.

Or last week when I was in this room where lots of strange things were happening. Things that I had never seen in person. And I was with this girl who I barely know, but knowing that two of my closest female friends would come. We all wanted to see these "things" but when I actually found myself there I just panicked thinking that my two female friends were about to come in and see me seeing these things with them. I felt so uncomfortable and thought it would be imprudent for me to be there. So I left, they stayed there for like 30 mins. Of course, I regretted this later and when I tried to come back I wasnt allowed to.

Anyways, why am I telling you this?? I been listening to this song that may describe more than one episode of my life.

Really??? Way overused my friends. Way too fucking overused. People bombard me with this word throughout the day. It really bothers me soooo much.

I mean, Im walking down the hall and this gorgeous girl rubs her breasts on my back and she says, "Im sorry." Really, do you think it bothers me?? You should be telling me, "You're welcome." Not Im Sorry. Really!!

Or the other day I was sitting by a round table with friends and one of my female friends touched the tip of my foot with her foot and what does she say, "Oh, sorry!!" Really?? Who do you think you are Samson?? It DIDNT hurt!! I promise. Why dont you just yell, "Awkward!!" or "I promise I wasnt trying to hit on you, it was a total accident." I know youre trying to save yourself a whole explanation about why tapping your foot against mine is an accident but just say it like it is. You will save me from getting all pissed off at you.

When I invite my friends to go out. Downtown or whatever, I normally send them a text message saying, "Dtown??" When they can't come do you know what they say?? "Can't go, sorry." Really?? Are you saying that I should I be sad that you won't be coming out?? I should be sorry that YOU are not coming out because I will have a very enjoyable time with our closest friends, meeting people and doing the crazy things that we do. So why would YOU say you're sorry to me because YOU can't come out?? ah ah?? tell me ... why?? lol

At least they don't say, "Sorry buddy." Because if you call me buddy I will PUNCH you in the nose next time I see you. The only time you are aloud to say the word buddy to me is when you tell me that I'm on your buddy list or or when you are wondering if you are in my buddy list. So please. dont call me buddy. I dont like that. Or the second time I see you, you will have a black eye. You can call me "man" I like that, it makes me feel like a man. Or friend, call me friend. Makes me feel important. But buddy?? Im not your 5 year old buddy. But don't worry if youve call me buddy before and you didnt know I hate the word, but now that you know, you better not call me that.

Anyways, back to the main subject. It bothers me when the girls talk between them and I just happen to hear this, or on MTV or whenever you hear girls talking between them and they tell each other that the word LOVE is overused. Really?? Is it really overused?? I mean, (in a girly voice), "Oh my God, (blank name) told me I love you and I just don't know what that means. Does he really love me or is he just trying to get in my pants? Oh gosh, that word is so overused." For real??? You know what word is really overused I'm Sorry. Sorry I banged your best friend. Sorry I couldn't make it to your show. Sorry Im so stupid I didnt know what I was doing. Dont you rather hear the I love you than the Im sorry?? Oh and let me give you a recommendation. Next time you break up with someone, right at the end of everything when you know everything is done and lost. And he/she is walking away dont yell "I'm sorry!!" Please dont do that!!! PLEASE!!! You know what you should say??? "I love you!!" I know it will send a very wrong message but you know what?? He/She will feel so much better later, I promise. Maybe a little confuse. But much better than if you had said "I'm sorry!!" So dont say youre sorry. I beg you.

USA vs Mexico "The Cold War"

You know what I can't get out of my head? This game!! It is not just another friendly game. This one actually counts. The hexagonal starts tomorrow and both teams have been unlucky to play each other for the first game in this round robin qualifier game. Let me explain how big this game is. There are six teams who play each other home and away for a total of ten matches. The top three teams make it to the World Cup and the fourth place plays vs 5th ranked team in South America. And yes, its almost likely that USA and Mexico will go through but you have to understand the magnitude of the game and the importance and confidence that brings the teams to beat each other.

For the first time in a VERY long time USA is favorite. We might have to go back to the 1930s when it was seen like this. The fact is this, USA has dictated a hegemony over the Mexican team. I mean, we've only beaten USA twice this decade and both victories came on a Sunday afternoon under the smog and altitude of Mexico City. Mexico hasnt beaten USA in American soil during a qualifier match since the 1970s. Fuck me

Anyways, heres my prediction and my reasons.

USA 2-0 Mexico

- Mexico wont be playing 5 of their starters due to injuries or suspensions.
-Magallon: injury, scored both goals last time both teams played each other on a 2-2 game
- Arce: suspension, easily replaceable but will need his crosses
-Guardado: injury, maybe the best player in the national team wont be playing. This is the guy who creates opportunities when the team is playing like shit.
-Torrado: suspension, our best mid defensive player. This means that Marquez will have to cover two spots. The back and the middle of the field.
-Vela: suspension. Really?? Fourth forward of the mighty powerful Arsenal of England wont be playing cause of a stupid STUPID foul he committed on the last game vs Honduras.

-The weather. Too cold for the Mexicans. But then again, I dont think the American players will be playing with any extra layers.

-USA soil. Last two games played in Columbus: 2001 USA2-0Mexico; 2005 USA2-0Mexico.

-Mexico has been playing like SHIT!!! Last five matches: 4 loses 1 win. Lost to Jamaica@Jamaica, Honduras@Honduras, Canada@Canada, Sweden@USA and victory against Ecuador @ USA.

Hope my team wins but I highly doubted. Wow im tired and I cant write but I just had to write this before tomorrow.

12 Years Ago Today

Twelve years ago this very day February 10th I moved to Austin, Texas from Tampico, Mexico. Maybe the toughest two years of my life began that afternoon. Moving to Austin was a very harsh change in my life. Even though I knew English, I hadn't perfected it (not that I have yet). I actually barely knew English back then, I remember being at the classroom and not talking to anyone, I would sit the farthest away from anyone who would want to speak to me. I also remember sitting on the lunch table with the "cool" guys (who had surprisingly taken me under their arm, I guess they saw my potential...lol) and not saying a single word because I was so afraid of them and of this new culture. I just couldnt get my friends and my life from Mexico out of my head. I would cry at nights and was miserable throughout the week with nothing to look forward to.

Well let me explain what I was going through before I moved to Austin. I was twelve years old but that in Mexico is like 14 years old in Austin, or at least where I grew up, Westlake. I'm saying this because when I was twelve I was already going to parties where the boys and the girls would dress up and try to make out, and Im not saying this doesnt happen in USA at that age but you have to understand, we were already driving cars, drinking alcohol, bringing girls back home and hanging out with the 18 year olds and we were just twelve!!! I used to believe that I was a grown up and my friends were going to be the people I would see often for the rest of my lives... I was going through all that before I moved to Austin. And what happens when I move to Austin??? I have no friends, except maybe my brother. My mom and dad would work all day, something that they hadnt done all my life. I used to ride the bus for over 90 minutes just to get to school because I used to live in an area where the schools were shit (Stassney and Pleasant Valley) and my mom wanted me to go to Hill Country which is the middle school in Westlake. So where in Mexico I was the king of the world, in Austin I was pretty much nobody and it really was hard. Oh did I mentioned that I was totally in love with this one girl that winter that I moved to Austin. I used to have all these dreams about her when I had already moved to Austin. haha.

Hahaha... i just remembered something about the night my dad told us that we were moving to Austin. We all gathered at my parents bedroom and the lights were off and my dad had been alone for a while, now that I think about it he had been crying and was having a very hard time thinking of how he was going to tell his 9 and 12 year old kids that we were going to move to Austin. But anyways, my mom was quiet next to me and my dad started speaking about the economy (no shit!! the economy... 12 years ago here we are talking about the economy but in a different country) and how bad his business was going and he finally blurred it out, "We are moving to Austin as soon as we can." And here is the funny thing, you know what my brother said?!?! You know what he fuckin said?!?! "Oh yes!! This has been the dream of my life!" Hahaha!! Can you believe it?!? Ah 9 year old twat!!! I was fuming!! Fuckin furious!! And he starts telling us about how it has been the dream of his life!! hahaha. Oh Ricky, how much I love that kid. But anyways, that was that. Rickys dream at 9 was my worst nightmare at 12.

Back to life when I had just moved to Austin. On August (six months after stepping foot in Austin) of 1997 I met my best friend of all my life. Kurt moved from Guadalajara, Mexico that very summer. I think we met the very first week of school but it might had been the second. We were in PE and the whole class was playing basketball and there were two kids who just couldnt play the game and that was Kurt and me. Afterwards, Kurt walked up to me and asked me if I was from Mexico. I said, "YES!! How did you know??" And he replied in Spanish, "I was looking at you as you played basketball and you suck!!" So Kurt and I became best friends that very day and we have been since. I guess it is because we went through the same change and harsh times and used each others company to make it to the end. And we really didnt have anybody else in school. I still remember being afraid of him missing school because that meant that I would be alone for the school day.

I also grew up and matured at a very young age. My parents couldnt speak English and you know who would call the phone companies?? the apartment complex?? the insurance company?? the cable?? the electricity?? ME. I became the best translator I knew back then. Through that I found out all about my parents financial problems and I would worry about it all the time. Ah man, it was hard. I was just twelve years old. And I was already worrying about money. What the fuck??

On new years eve of 1997 I told my dad as we drove alone to my aunts place, "This has been the worst year of my life." My dad broke down in tears in front of me right there. I felt good about it, I wanted to make him feel bad about bringing me into this shitty life. I really was selfish, I just wouldnt see the big picture. All the sacrifice that they were also making, everything that they gave up for my brother and my future. I really was an idiot back then, but the truth is that I really was a good kid and I payed them back that way. Big soccer star, staying off drugs and alcohol, hanging out with the good kids, or must I say good kid because from Feb 10th 2007 to September of 2008 I only had one friend and that was Kurt. I owe my dad, my mom, my brother, Kurt and his family all the support that they brought me through those harsh years of my life. The thing is, it wasnt just me, they were going through harsh times as well and I think thats why we coped so well.

Twelve years later I see my life and I am happy about it all. I did learn a lot at a very young age and that helped me mature very quickly as a person. I do have amazing friends right now and I finished college, something that at one point in my life might had been impossible. I truly believe I would had been a shit person if I hadnt moved to Austin, I truly believe that.

January 2009: I Danced Myself Right Out The Womb

So for the past thirteen months I have been making a playlist for every month of the year. I used to burn them and listen to them in my car but that whole ritual was thrown out the window the second some douche decided to steal my car's stereo. These playlists are made up from the songs/bands Ive been listening throughout the month. So theyre usually new songs or discoveries. I get about thirty albums per month and I just put them on my itunes and now and then one comes up and catches my ear and I will add the song to the playlist. I do have a rule though, no more than two songs per band per playlist. Anyways, I also like naming them because I like naming shit. The name is normally taken out from a lyric or a title from one of the songs. Ive also ordered them in a way that I think the album will flow smoothly and delicately.

1. I love my brother Ricky more than any other person in my life. My parents are a close second. I think they would be happy to read this.

8. I listened to What's The Story Morning Glory for the first time in my life on my freshmen year of HS (Sept. 1999) on a soccer trip in Dallas. It changed my musical taste forever, not to mention my life.

9. I went to my first concert when I saw The Strokes at the Austin Music Hall on November 17th, 2002 and it changed my life forever. I had never been to a "real" concert in my life until that day and it became my favorite hobby to this day.

10. I know who will be my best man on my wedding (if I ever get married), Kurt Huerta. Sorry bro, sorry everyone else. The spot is taken.

11. I've only truly liked three girls in my life. One was a waste of time, the other turned out to be a hypocrite and the third has yet to disappoint me. #4?? BE HERE NOW

12. I have two other "siblings." My cousin Gerardo and Paola. We grew up together for thirteen years of my life and I am VERY close to them even though I only see them for one week in the year.

13. I moved to Austin, Texas on February 10th, 1997. This means that August 14th, 2009 will be the day when I have lived EXACTLY half my life in Mexico and HALF my life in USA.

14. I sleep with the music on. I normally set it on 30 sleep mins at night. I think I've heard Coldplay- Parachutes more times asleep than awake. Also, during my naps on the afternoon I blast the music so loud that I normally have dreams about the music I was listening to. Then I go back to listen to some songs I had never heard on my itunes.

15. If I could choose someone to look like I wouldn't hesitate and say I want to look like Fernando Torres. Not to mention, I wanna play futbol like Fernando Torres.

16. I don't like Mexican beer that much, I rather have European beer.

16 1/2. The Administrations still lives!!! I don't care what anyone else says. We are just in a recession due to the economy.

17. I grab my shirt (right where my chest is) more times than what I blink in a day.

18. I make a funny noise when I think I've said something awkward or funny. It sounds so natural and its so short and silent that people don't even notice it.

19. Everytime I play sports and we get numbered jerseys I ALWAYS have to be #9. But my favorite number is 27. I still don't know why.

20. I was born in Texas but I consider myself more Mexican than American.

21. I have a VERY mild case of OCD. Everything has to be aligned, perfect angles, if I step over a line with my right foot I have to step over the next one with the left foot to make it even. The most annoying one is the stairs, if there is an odd number of stairs I have to go back to walk and step with the one foot that I have step up/down the stairs the least with. People don't notice this things about me but I live with them on a daily basis. My shower is a routine: towel on rack, teeth, piss, shampoo, soap, conditioner, dry myself, stand up next to my tv and watch it for like 3 mins, get online, go back into the bathroom and change into my pijamas or whatever. I probably missed something there but I would notice if I took a shower. FUCKIN anxieties.

22. Im an observer. When I go downtown or to parties or any public places I love to sit or stand by myself alone and observe at the idiotic behaviors of human beings (not saying that I don't do them though). I do like to observe these behaviors and comment them with other people when theyre happening though.

23. The only thing I like about the cold weather is the fact that I can wear "cool" clothes. Besides that, I freaking hate the cold.

24. My biggest fear about my future is that I will be a conformist like my father. Second biggest fear is that I will be bald. I think I am FUCKED there though.

25. I like to be repetitive so people can identify me when I am not around and they won't forget me. For example, I always have the same haircut... looks almost the same when its long or short. I remember one time a friend wore a wig for a certain disco party and people were asking him if he was wearing a Jesus wig. I also will get random texts from people when they drink Stella because I speak so highly of it. When Oasis plays on the radio people will call me. I havent been able to establish an original smell though and its driving me crazy because it is the most important sense of memory since smell stimulates the memory's brain cells blablablabla or something like that.

I am not a good talker nor a good writer so you have to lower yourself to a middle schooler's level. I can't conjugate my verbs and I can't hit the right tenses to save my life. Spanish has fucked hard and anally my English. If my writing had an accent, it would have a very thick one... that's what she said. All I'm trying to do is entertain and update my close friends about my life, even if its for the two minutes that it takes them to read this. Maybe this blog will actually teach me how to write because I suck at it. Just take it for what it is. A stupid blog about one person's thoughts.
